The new General Data Protection Regulations came into force on 25th May 2018 (within the new Data Protection Act 2018) and have replaced the Data Protection Act 1998.
The new regulations include updated principles of your approach to processing personal data, as well as the condition to only process such data under a valid, lawful basis, and updated rights of the individuals (of which the data relates too).
